Transitional Processing Program
for Chronic Alcohol and Drug Offenders
The Transistional Prevention Processing program is designed for the sole purpose of transforming the enslaved mind from psychological and emotional barriers. The program (TPP) is a twelve week, three day transitional program under the direction of mentors, sponsors and licensed certified addiction counselors serving alcohol and drug offenders referred by the courts, governing county and State referral agencies, and/or the Michigan Department of Corrections. The TPP combines educational presentations regarding the risks associated with continuing drug and alcohol abuse with individual and small-group as well as marathon sessions that press clients to explore their own drug use and its likely consequences. The use of marathon group sessions makes difficult the maintenance of denial (or other defensive postures) and permits group support for self-assessment. Both client and staff are afforded greater insight into the client's functioning, permitting more effective referral and acceptance of needed transitional substance abuse prevention services.
The TPP has been particularly targeted to people with a history of chronic alcohol and drug offenses and other life challenges. Our staff is a mix of counselors who are academically trained professionals and professionals based on experience. On a weekly basis an assigned counselors monitors the educational programming and marathon group. Recover-ing alcoholics and addicts with a minimum of five years recovery experience are available as Program Mentors.
Our program is scheduled three days a week for twelve weeks. Our clients are given a program module appendix that is completed by the end of the twelve week sessions. The appendix modules include: Individual Goals and Aspirations: Recovery Plan, Specific Steps of the Recovery Plan, Recovery Coach Service Documentation Forms, Weekly Contingency Management Plans and Functional Analysis for Using Behavior.
