Prevention Education Programs
 
Drug Insight and Awareness
 A 12 week pro-active group providing education, support and referrals regarding substance abuse related issues.  This educational series is primarily for individuals potentially at risk of developing a drug problem.  Focus is on increasing one's knowledge, awareness and understanding regarding the effects of drugs on the body and their associated health, emotional, legal and economic risks/ consequences.
 
Alcohol Education 
A 12 week intensive program for thos adults experiencing substance abuse related problems, but not meeting the criteria for substance abuse treatment.  Focus is on increasing one's awareness of alcohol and the associated emotional, familial, legal, financial and realted risks and/or consequences.  Presentations include lectures, handouts, self-assessments, group discussion and MADD Victim's Impact Panel.
 
 Alcohol Education and Traffic Safety
An 8 hour program designed for individuals who are not in need of intensive education and who do not meet the criteria for substance abuse treatment.  Focus is on increasing insight and understanding of the effects of alcohol on the body and the associated risks.  Presentations include lecture, handouts, group discussion and individual substance abuse assessment with recommendation.
 
Anger Management
 A  10 week interactive educational group providing education, assessments, role-playing,  support and referrals.  Emphasis is on aiding in the development of adequate coping mechanisms, identification of triggers and conflict resolution skills.
 
Domestic Violence
This program is an 10 week intensive, pro-active group for individuals displaying aggression, violence and abusive behavior.  Focus is on accountability, behavior modification and decreasing blaming.  Presentations include videos, role-playing, interactive group work and didactic sessions.
 
Domestic Violence Follow-up
The follow-up sessions meet for either 10 weeks, meeting one time per week for one hour per session.  The focus is on addressing respect, non-threatening behavior, trust, support and honesty, enhancement of coping skills, economic negotiation and parenting skills.
 
Positive Strategies for Life (economic crime)
This is an 8 week program designed for first time offenders convicted of embezzlement, retail fraud and other property crime.  Focus is on accountability, alternatives and positive decision making,.  The format consists of group discussion, self-assessments, behavior modication techniques and future planning strategies.
   
Substance Abuse/Circuit Court Assessments
Designed to establish a client's needs and areas to be addressed.  Focus is on delineating the level of alcohol and/or drug use by the client, assessing level of minimization, denial, rationalization recommendation and referrals based on assessment.
